The Chickens have landed

I am not sure when it started but for the longest time I have wanted to own my very own chickens.

Me and chickens when I was 3

Rob and I have talked about the possibility of owning chickens for at least ten years but we have never taken the steps to make my dream a reality. When we bought Twin Oaks I knew that chickens were in our future and with the arrival of spring we decided to make my dream a reality.

First step build a coop.

Building the coop didn't take too long once Rob started it. Once Rob starts a project he doesn't stop until the job is done and done right.

Once it was built we moved it into place and Rob finished it off.

With each weekend I would ask Rob if we could finally get the chickens and a week ago the answer was finally yes!

After doing some digging I was able to find someone willing to sell me some of her laying chickens and we were off to bring our new family members home.

Princess Laya,

Caramel,

Chickaletta,

and last but not least Skipper.

When we left the farm we bought are chickens from Rob and I looked at each other and agreed that we would want more then just 4 but we would start here for now.

Everyone has told me that chickens are a bit addicting and I have to agree. We have spent a lot of or our weekend sitting outside the run watching our flock.

Skipper, the oldest and maybe the smartest of the group has already produced two eggs!

I really didn't know how happy I would be with this decision and there is definitely no going back now. Don't worry I am not going to decorate my house with chicken knick knacks, having them in the coop is enough for me!
